Falling in love with Veronica Falls?
“…Veronica Falls didn’t excite their set enough to gain any new followers or to rouse their existing ones. Basically, my protest placard would emblazon: “VF for studio recorded tracks! Probably no to live acts!” Or perhaps I should keep the placards as blank as their expressions. If it wasn’t for their neutral facials, I would be saying they were sitting hard on that pointy fence on whether they are a band about whom to be excited. I was a semi-fan of their recorded tracks, but their live act didn’t make me fall in love with them.”

Clash of the egos
“…After all, the articles I write are my children, and while I can’t choose a favourite between them, I’m biased that my creations are better/walked earlier/prettier than any other article not borne of my pen. My interests in my sense of work [of managing articles] and sense of worth [of writing articles] started to conflict…The instinct to ensure the survival of your name [and in this case, byline] is strong.”

Hot off the Tweet
“…I don’t understand why the courts are so resistant to social media. It’s true – print and other mediums are old technology. But I love how Twiiter, FB et al are dubbed “new” media. No. Its just media. This is it. It’s not new anymore. You don’t call a child in Grade 2 a newborn baby anymore, do you? This is the 21st Century. It’s time for the courts to catch up. In jargon at least.”

The Kooks kick off
“…While The Kooks are best known for boppy bits like “Matchbox” and “Naive”, their slower jams were surprisingly the best of their live set. “Sway” has that rising bridge that just screams for singalong screams. And the crowd gives their sway, soul and heart even without Pritchard claiming he needs it.”

Cold War Kids play in the sun
“…Their set jumped from tribal beated and falsetto yelps in “Welcome to the Occupation” to slow jam “Every Man I Fall For”. This may have halted any rising energy in any other set, but the crowd showed no slow down in its sing-a-long. Most of the slow songs had Willett on the piano, and what crowd doesn’t love a piano man singing us a song?”
