Social-media Club

“…Unlike my friend, my inner monologues are far too loud to silence on my Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, but the good thing is they are all having different conversations. While all my social media pages are active and genuine, each has their own personality based on the personality of the medium.”
[Outburst post about my different personalities on my my different social media profiles, such as @KeiraWong, the slack, gum-chewing media intern.]

A star thanks their stars

“…Building my business network was more difficult than building my social network. The power of referral, recommendation, and risk is a trifecta greater than the power of a resume, cover letter and job searching skill.”
[Outburst gush post about my thoughts on establishing your roots, and realising it.]

How I write

“…You can sit in a beautiful field all you like – but like your environment, inspiration must be natural and uncontrived.”
[Post about the methods and routines of my writing process.]

The interwebs makes me laugh

“…Was using the internets for research, news, edumacation this past fortnight, and found these tasty digital nuggets to dip into my hot sauce of giggles.”
[Kickabout post on my "research" on meaty fannies, Bill Oddie transvestites and how to spell 'hypocriticism" in English.]

Clash of the egos

“…After all, the articles I write are my children, and while I can’t choose a favourite between them, I’m biased that my creations are better/walked earlier/prettier than any other article not borne of my pen. My interests in my sense of work [of managing articles] and sense of worth [of writing articles] started to conflict…The instinct to ensure the survival of your name [and in this case, byline] is strong.”
[Post about keeping my ego in check when writing articles for news channels that I managed - and drawing similarities of my Godfather-esque career to the demise of Fredo Corelone.]

Hot off the Tweet

“…I don’t understand why the courts are so resistant to social media. It’s true – print and other mediums are old technology. But I love how Twiiter, FB et al are dubbed “new” media. No. Its just media. This is it. It’s not new anymore. You don’t call a child in Grade 2 a newborn baby anymore, do you? This is the 21st Century. It’s time for the courts to catch up. In jargon at least.”
[Post about Canada's Chief Justice pitting my two fields of law + media against each other by stating law courts must learn to deal with the concept of including Twitter and FB in reporting.]

Ghost writers, ghost town? The lost arts.

“…Choose your creativity adventure. We are genetically modified girls living in a genetically modified world. Are we making creative aspects using less than creative means, and realizing only a limited aspect of our own creativity?”
[Lamenting post about the automatic arts of photography, music and *gasp* possibly writing?]

The medium is the message? If you stay that long…

“…The story of Billy Bishop is a great one. But transferring a story does not mean a straight transfer of elements when transferring to a different medium.”
[Post about how I walked out of my first movie - a musical transported, not translated, to cinema.]

Code Red Flags – Raindance Canada Saturday Film School

“…You want to make it any country, you gotta know the language. And filmmaking is a world of its own. But it’s more of a code than a language, a verbal secret handshake. What does it really mean when someone asks, “Its on a European budget?” Here’s how to crack the code.”
[Finishing overview of Raindance Canada's Saturday Film School w Elliot Grove, and the elements of budget, casting, lighting and camera angles.]

Twins: a film of similarities – Raindance Canada Saturday Film School

“…First off, Raindance Canada’s course is not for newbies, students or amateurs. Of course, that doesn’t stop all of them from attending. Grove’s fascinating charisma, however, doesn’t allow you to think of yourself as a newbie, student or amateur. He offered real life insight and practical advice on the art of filmmaking.”
[Overview of Raindance Canada's Saturday Film School w Elliot Grove, and how screenwriting compares to writing a book.]
