Malkovich Mistreaters

“…The crowd spilled from the regal Town Hall down its infamous steps and exploded onto the traffic-laden George Street just to see the one and only Mr John Horatio (Gavin) Malkovich – the headliner of the Sydney Festival 2011.”
[Review of John Malkovich w/ Jim Sharman "In Conversation" interview @ Town Hall, Sydney, Australia - 17 January 2011.]

We’re not worthy! We’re scum! We suck!

No laugh? No seat for you!

“…Middle comedian, Dan Bingham, was like a deer in the headlights when confronted by a so-called “heckler”. Note the quotation marks. This heckle was so mild it was a hiccup, making Bingham more a beaver in a flashlight.”
[Review of Absolute Comedy stand-up w/ Nile Seguin, Dan Bingham, and other. - Plus star of the show: a heckler! - Yonge and Eglinton, Toronto, Canada - 12 February 2011.]

Annie Warbucks

What's that noise? Oh right, I'm thinking. And not being impressed.

“…there is nothing that stands out to me about why her career is considered stand-out. She has access to the stars…her access in itself is probably the only stand-out feature.”
[Review of the Annie Leibovitz "A Photographer's Life 1990-2005" exhibition @ the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia - 8 January 2011.]

Solitary lines on a solitary stage = united performance

My prop

“…there’s something about “A Solitary Choice” that puts your mind into a trance, trying to process the enormity of the issue with which Ruth is faced and its consequences. Its an internal analysis that will have you thinking and uniting with others beyond the stage.”
[Review of Sheila Duncan's "A Solitary Choice" w/ Tamara Lee @ Seymour Centre, Sydney, Australia - 12 November 2010.]

stARIAs Awards 2010

“…always been unable to properly describe Australian music [“kind of indie?”] as opposed to describing Australian film [“kind of wanky!”]. So I’ve made up my own awards from the Australian music night in an attempt for it to describe itself.”
[Review of the 2010 ARIA Awards @ Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia - 8 November 2010.]

Creating crowds for company – not for everyone

“…I prefer a single or duo dance, I find group dance too complicated and ADD busy – more like flash flood than fluidity.”
[Review of Rafael Bonachela and Emanuel Gat's "New Creations Season 2" dance performance @ The Sydney Dance Company, Walsh Bay, Australia - 9 Ocotber 2010.]

All the pretty lights

“…not sure if my head was spinning from the artistic flair or scare of the installations.”

Mercury is melting…and so is my patience

Makes you think, dunnit?

“…“I work in circles.” Kvarnstrom is actually referring to his style of choreography, not the overall feel of his production.”

Arj at large

Hilarious

…And it’s this self-effacing humour that just clicks with an Aussie audience. His observational humour that focusses on an entirely irrelevant part of the joke, at his expense, is unexpectedly hilarious.
[Review of Arj Barker's comedy set @ the State Theatre, Sydney, Australia - 23 October 2009.]
