Greek in Petersham

G is for Greek

Perama Greek Restaurant, 88 Audley St, Petersham

Organised by ARI on Thursday night, August 2009

6.5 Gastronomes:

The Originals (minus Dave), Dan (for dessert), Ari, Sez and Ange.

It was a weird night for group dynamics. It was difficult to organise an available date that suited everyone. So busy trying to decide on a date, we don’t notice we’ve been emailing Dave’s work email, who was on leave, and subsequently didn’t reply, which we also didn’t notice. So Dave didn’t show up as he, again, missed the memo. Nat piked out last minute due to a timetable clash. Dan had soccer training but made it weary-bodied and bleary-eyed to dessert. Adrian got off a plane one hour before after four days interstate. Sez was drunk for the first time. I was sober for the first time. It was a night that almost tried too hard at a time too hard.

Grub:

$50 pp banquet. Stand outs were taramasalata dips, and the grilled haloumi with honeyed peppered figs. YUM! They also stocked Bloodwood Rose, Alanna and Ange’s favourite wine. Sez really liked it.

Grade:

6.5/10

Pros – FANTASTIC food. Very nice décor. The lowered bar of invitation standards (a one-liner from Ari, followed by “Oh man, why is noone available when I organise it?”).

Cons – Our own group’s dynamics. Location, for those not in Sydney’s inner west.

After-party antics

I think the group was so exhausted, we didn’t even say goodbye to each other! I am guessing everyone went home, because that’s where I went!
