Remember when registering domain names of famous children [a la DannielynnBirkhead.com for a cool mill] in the hope of extorting receiving money from the rightful owner was frowned upon? (And never paid out.)
So how awesome is this accidental cash-in on Twitter?
@theashes who blogs about knitting and not cricket [though one ain't far off from the other in the slumber-inducing stakes] received a free trip Down Under from Massachusetts, phone and car just because of her Twitter name.
Twitter users were accidently @mentioning her when commenting on the test matches. The hilarity of her not knowing of “wickets” [Wazzat? Shocked gasps from Aussies as they realise cricket is not an Olympic sport for a reason!!!] created a Twitter campaign of #bringtheashestotheashes. Advice: To convince someone to like cricket is to not let them actually watch cricket. And she thinks the 24 hour flight is gonna be bad! Try 25 days of cricket, and Mama Knit will be poking her eyes out with her needles.
Nonetheless, following this, I am trending #bringKeiraWongonanallexpensespaidtriptoEurope. It’s not getting picked up right now. Plan B: Set up Twitter accounts of @ozopen, @curlingchampionships2011, and @FIFAWongCup. Watch this space!

My attempt at cashing in. Legal tender, no?
