Where you at, fool?

“Here is the basic rule for winning success. Let’s mark it in the mind and remember it. The rule is people. The only hurdle between you and what you want to be is the support of other people.” -David Joseph Schwartz

I’m not saying I have won success, nor am I saying I am what I want to be [especially if what I want to be is a winner of success], but I definitely am one step closer with the support of my mother, and friend, Barry. My mother and Barry unequivocally support me, and not in the trite nod and pat on the head “proud of you, kid” type of way. [Light chin punch optional.]

They always give specific feedback, both positive and negative but always constructive. [Mum = “That story was way too long, it went on and on and on and on. Just like how you talk.” Barry = “Skip! Not relevant!”] They are always genuinely happy to spread word of my activities to those who don’t really care around them, listen to my updates on my writing and constantly feed my ego drive to push forward.

They are my mentors but not in the “I’m in the industry, you’re good but my high horse is a Clydesdale” type of way. They prop me up so my legs are long enough to scale those hurdles and give me the ability to laugh at myself as I inevitably trip over them with my  lil chopstick legs. There’s nothing physically wrong with me but I latch onto these two important people in my life, and I don’t want to let go. Being able to achieve your goals with support from your loved ones seems so effortless. Much like going to Oz to get a brain or some courage – too easy! And I’m sure both Mum and Barry believe either of these two should be my main priority.

In short, thanks to Mum and Bare for all your support and encouragement. Definitely makes my race a hurtle more than a hurdle! [And cue Bare rolling his eyes: “Too much!” then…fade to black….]

Me and me muum. I take her advice, she takes good pictures.

I support his head but he supports my writing.

I had three others of you that I wanted to use but thought you might think a post praising you accompanied by such photos would be insincere…. ;)
