So, it’s that time to move house again. Unfortunately, all the exciting things are happening at the same time to potentially make the best into a bust.
It comes in threes…
Good luck, misfortunes, it all depends on your perspective.
- Moving house. For me, this is great. I have a cool apartment by the water, a little space for little me, my best friend and I will be painting canvas to put a creative touch to the home, hard wood floors, awesome modern kitchen for my love of cooking and eating, natural light, bay breeze, green park a stone’s throw away, right near the ferry wharf, great view of city skyline and blue skies. But of course, moving can be a real pain.
- Potential new job. I was offered a news writer position [CF "M-O-N-E-Y: that's money, honey" post] in my team, internal movement within the company. Fantastic journalist opportunity. Especially as I am in a current role of number crunching and people/product management. I certainly die without words, percentages do not cut it for me. But when I have to squeeze in a three hour writing/comprehension text under exam conditions starting at 9 am while still doing my normal and demanding role is challenging. On top of that, two formal interviews, two informal interviews, meetings, phew! It’s a long day. All the way.
- Three book tours starting in less than a week. Preparing for a book in the midst of packing and packing it – stressful is not enough word for the feeling! The presentation is completely tailored and different to the other book tours, so I do need to spend some time writing and practicing the presentation. Not to mention I have run out of Adventure Packs and need to make some more. If I find time and don’t lose it within my moving!
Of course, on the face of it, these three are definite good luck! They will only be misfortune if I stuff it all up by not juggling my time properly. I say the list should go backwards in terms of importance: book tour, new job, moving. While I love my book tours, the list is moving, new job, book tour, in terms of excitement. I can’t whistle, let’s hope I can juggle.
