In a little over a year, The Alpha Crew has experienced the eleven flavours of the world from A – K, travelled all over Sydney to the recommended restaurants and had several affairs with several bottles of wine.

K is for a dish starting with “K”  or from a country starting with “K”

Kitchen Knockouts:

  • Sez cooked kisir, Turkish-style cous cous.
  • Dave created dolmades filled with lemon rice and mince meat wrapped in fresh vine leaves, complete with homemade tzatziki. Traditionally eaten in Kuwait. We’ve would have also accepted “Kolmades”.
  • Ari brought … a Persian melange of beef, rice and beans cooked by his mum.
  • Alanna brought Lebanese Koftas made by her mum but cooked by her in my kitchen. Delicious hummus topped it off.
  • Nat made Knicker Bocker Glories, a Christmas coloured dessert of green jelly, strawberries, vanilla icecream toped with a creamy wafer, made famous by Paddington Bear who ate them by the beach.
  • I made Korean Kongguksu, a soy bean milky noodle soup garnished with kim chi (fermented cabbage) and boiled egg. Traditionally eaten ice cold in the summer by working class, and Kkaeguksu, a sesame seed chicken noodle broth traditionally eaten by the elite class in Korea who could afford chicken to make the broth instead of the standard soy staple [hat trick of a "K" dish from a "K" country cooked by "K" Yeah...no-one appreciated it as much as me! Nerd...]
  • Adrian bought Korean takeaway….[from a restaurant we probably would have gone to for our usual style of alpha dinners.]

Pros: What a great night to end the year. So much fun, great food, fantastic company. A different take on the alpha dinners.

Cons: Really, can’t think anything. Even the after dinner games were good!

After-party antics:

Games of Cranium and Charades until almost midnight.

Eating: Nothing, am in bed. But am getting hungry after posting this. There are some leftover kolmades…

Drinking: Nothing, am in bed.

Listening: to the whirr of my fan and enjoying the cool tickle on my face. I love sleeping with a fan!
