5 Vegas quickies

1. Creepiest thing I saw:

Obese man in a wheelchair dressed in a hand-me-down tattered and torn Santa Claus outfit handing out balloon masks to children. It covered their entire face. Creepy.

2. Strangest thing I heard:

“Mmm, I love that Asian smell.” As I walked past. A couple. Said by the woman. And after I turned around to make sure I heard correctly, she said: “That’s right, you heard correctly. You just smell so darn nice.”

Ok-kaaaay.

3. Cutest thing that me say ‘awww’:

An elderly couple sitting side by side at Bally’s Casino playing on matching “Love Goldfish” pokie machines with their arms wrapped around each other and laughing.

“Let’s spend our kids’ inheritance together, baby.”

4. Biggest comparison I am making:

My big world trip 06-07. First steps off the plane, I felt a rush of Santiago nostalgia: the icy air, the mountain/canyon/rock shadows on the horizon, the bright lights, the carnivale food, the fried Native American bread (like Mapuche fried bread). Also, my ridiculous 28 kilo bag for 4 weeks away as opposed to my 9 kilo backpack for 12+ months.

5. Best thing of the trip:

Flying over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter! And Cirque de Soleil’s “O” is fantastic for those flight challenged.

Me on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.

Me on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.

Three days is not enough to court Las Vegas. I will be back to be seduced by her bright lights once again.

      Thanks!
You know those balloon animals that clowns make, twist it into shapes like a dog or a flower? Well, he made a balaclava mask out of a balloon. So this child’s face was encased in a balloon helmet with only their eyes showing…unsettling indeed!
