French in Sydney
F is for French
La Guillotine French Restaurant Bistro, 518 Kent St, Sydney, Australia
Organised by KEIRA (when Adrian FAILED) on Friday night, July 2009
Original restaurant was Mrs Top in Neutral Bay. Last minute bookings they do not take. Calling me in a panic, Adrian asked me to find a French restaurant on the day of our “F” night. I said a few other words starting with F, but luckily La Guillotine had enough room for:
12 Foodies
The Originals, Ari, Sez, Daniel, Nat, Ange + Jean [another work friend, and coincidentally a year younger than us in high school] and two of her friends, Alicia and Michelle.
Fanfare
Moules in four different sauces, lobster crepes, snails, creme caramel. Absolutely fantastic!

Tournedo Rossini servi sur un lit de pomme lyonnaise. Ooh la la!

- Snails were actually quite yummy.

Moules!
Final tally
9/10
Pros – Great menu of all things stereotypically French. CUTE setting [spiral staircase led to basement where you could see city stragglers' shoes on Kent Street walking past through the windows]. Despite Zinks’ personalised email of how the French is connected to each of our cultural heritages ["There is a French embassy in Slovakia" says the Slovakian-background Zinks], I received the kudos for organising the night!
Cons - Toilets smelled AWFUL, we had to move away from them. Plumbing problem?
After-party antics
I had a little too much Friday cheer, and am surprised I can remember the main meals. The dessert was a blur. The red wine was lovely though! Quaff, quaff. I went home at 11.30 pm to have a much needed glass(es) of water on the couch before having a much needed nap (which lasted through to the morning).

F Cameo!! Introducing....Jeannie.

Kent Street was the name of my high school. Those snails look delicious.

Hehe, how are you finding these old blog posts?
I still have to write “V” alpha dinner. I only have W, X, Y, Z to go, and the series is finished!
